Product update:

Two new products in the category CITRUS FRUITS are introduced:

  • Daidai
  • Microcitrus species oil

Eight products in the category CITRUS FRUITS are updated:

  • Orange oil
  • Grapefruit juice
  • Grapefruit oil
  • Lime oil, cold pressed
  • Lime oil, distilled
  • Yuzu oil
  • Sudachi
  • Kabosu oil

The new data for these products were obtained from 72 new literature references. This resulted in 2179 new occurrences of which 27 compounds were not published before in the VCF database. Also, 155 new synonyms were introduced.

Molecular structures

Many new presentations of molecular structures are introduced.

FEMA GRAS

The compounds from the new FEMA GRAS 25 list (July, 2011) are incorporated. Known compounds are updated with the new GRAS 25 FEMA numbers. If not present in our VCF list, the GRAS data are added with the remark ‘Imported FEMA GRAS list’. Although some FEMA data may contain non volatile compounds, or are products rather than compounds, they are added also. See the FEMA website.

Flavis (EU-Flavis database)

Since 2009, no changes are made to the EU-Flavis database. See the Flavis flavouring substances website.
Notice that in the last amendment to the EU regulation several flavour numbers are deleted which are not removed in the EU Flavis database. These FL numbers are also still included in our VCF data.

New functionality:

  • The search function for compounds has been improved. Additional to the existing exact search a new approximate search function is introduced. This fuzzy search method searches for compounds which resemble the input string. You can use this function also when you are not sure about the right notation of a compound or when you are not sure about the compound configuration.
  • Information about the top 10 popular searches for products, compounds and literature is given. See the menu item Search history (subscribers only). It shows the current interest for these items in the VCF community.
  • Some style changes are introduced to improve the readability and print output of the website pages.
